Milanese Style

Lebanon born, Paris based architect, Badih Ghanem discovers design retreat – Palazzo Segreti during a recent trip to Milan.

I entered Palazzo Segreti through a vast lounge area featuring a Marco Cingolani original adorning the main wall. I was immediately invited to sit and sip on a glass of champagne with a prompt, fast check-in. Segreti means ‘secrets’ and this palazzo stays true to its name. Unpretentious and discreet, my kind of place. Shortly after, I was escorted to my suite, home for the next few days.   I was immediately invited to sit and sip on a glass of champagne with a prompt, fast check-in. Italian proprietors Roberta and Francesco enlisted architects, Brizzi and Riefenstahl, to renovate the 18th-century palazzo, they have completed the project with Scandinavian and Milanese design pieces that blend with a fearless collaboration of bold colour schemes and natural materials. Even with the concrete, nothing about the space feels cold. Possibly as everything you see is selected and approved by the owners, the palazzo is very much an extension of their impressive personal style and exquisite taste.

Truly boutique with only 18 rooms, all with spacious bathrooms, the standout is the Unique Suite. Complete with hot tub and separate seating area. A delightful spot for uninterrupted Italian indulgence.
