Not many hotels can boast a hand-written letter from a former President (39th US President, Jimmy Carter) but The Kimberly can. This was a sure sign of a great stay during a pleasant check-in at this charming hotel, in a prime location on 155 East 5Oth Street.

A Presidential Stay...
Arriving early evening I ventured ”Upstairs” to enjoy a cocktail whilst my luggage was swiftly taken to my suite. The elevator opened 30 stories above street level, I discovered a vast penthouse level bar and lounge that is famous with both New Yorkers (the chic kind) and return international hotel guests. Expect breathtaking views across Midtown Manhattan and the iconic Chrysler Building whilst sipping on an Old Fashioned and a few nibbles.

Cocktails and city views can be continued in all of The Kimberly’s satisfying suites. I experienced the luxurious, newly remodelled one-bedroom suite with King Bed, antique-style furnishings, a separate living room, dining area, a jetted tub and a balcony. The highlight: feather beds draped in Fretté linens, covered in fluffy, down comforters and pillows. Ensuring a solid eight-hour uninterrupted sleep. Suite dreams, indeed.
Longer stay travellers will be pleased to know that all suites come equipped with a mini-refrigerator, coffee maker and marble/tiled bathroom. Offering practicality mixed with classic New York opulence.
Dining is a must! try out Empire Steak House which opened adjacent to the lobby in early 2016. A grand bi-level space with roomy banquettes and atmosphere to spare. Bistango is the on-property Italian restaurant and features an impressive cocktail menu and tasty made-to-order flatbreads. Or in my case, order a feast to your suite via in-room dining, tuck up in bed and watch a classic from the hotel’s movie selection.

Independently owned and operated, the hotel offers a classic, traditional, luxury experience. I will be sure to visit my new friend ”Kimberly” when I return to the big apple.
