Arriving I started to digest the masterpiece that is ‘The Alpina Gstaad’ – Massive blocks of Ringgenberg limestone from local quarries were used in the construction of the facades, and antique wood from Swiss farmhouses was chosen for the interiors. The first thing that catches the eye, when the doors swing open in front of you, is a 350-year-old wooden ceiling of incredible beauty, painted by Italian masters. This unique piece of the interior was saved from extinction and carefully transported from the south of Italy.
Numerous objects and materials have received a second life here, antique wardrobes are neighbours with ultra-modern sofas, handcrafted fireplaces with high technological characteristics of ultra-thin screens, bed linen made of hypoallergenic organic cotton to ensure a deep and relaxing sleep on comfortable spacious beds. You can feel care, attention and respect for each guest in every form – from the perfectly detailed design of the 25 rooms and 31 suites to the teams impeccable service. It is refreshing to learn that all wishes are carefully listened to and solutions are promptly found.

Remove stress with treatments at the famous Six Senses spa, equipped with 12 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, salt room, hammam and organic juice bar. Respiratory yoga classes and a whole complex of massages will restore your physical and mental balance.
Along with the already world-renowned high-quality cosmetic brands, local artisanal ones are used at the spa, which are loved by customers thanks to their effectiveness and high standards respected. We would totally recommend Detox and Boost Immunity program (one, three or five days up to your choice), as well as Dr Burgener handmade products. This family enterprise was inspired by science and innovation. Dr Pauline Burgener’s initiative « Women for Women » supports local cooperatives in India and Lebanon, which is another step forward in caring for women.
I was pleased to discover that the products used by all of the three hotel restaurants come direct from local farmers. The Alpina honey is produced by a professional beekeeper from 7 local bee colonies. Be sure to try this speciality during breakfast in the luxurious hotel restaurant or on the balcony of your suite while enjoying the view and birds chirping.
Especially for wine connoisseurs, The Alpina Gstaad’s Director of Wine Luca Padovani has prepared the rarest and sophisticated selection. Make sure you savour Swiss wines, rare finds once you re-cross the border. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from the Cave Caloz, a family-run vineyard in Miège, will make a great choice.
