City Chic

Welcome to Merino hospitality, a London based family business offering new levels of excellence on the London hospitality scene. We speak with Caio Merino about what it takes to make your mark in the UK’s capital.

Having had the full Merino Hospitality experience I discovered that the serviced apartment offerings are the same in terms of the professionalism you will find at a five-star hotel but with the unrivalled convenience and privacy that only a serviced apartment can provide. Firstly, you are handed the keys to an exclusive London address but more importantly you have the Merino team on hand constantly who will literally do anything to make sure that you have the best possible stay. There is a definite passion behind this and a force that drives this level of perfection and that is Caio Merino.

Having spent some time with Caio, it is clear he is a man of impeccably high standards and he comes from an impressive background providing hospitality for top luxury brands such as Burberry. His innovative approach shows in subtle ways such as the SONOS music system that allows you to connect and play your music simultaneously through every area of house, which for a frequent traveller like me is a refreshing change from the dated iPod deck designed for iPhone 4. He is also with the times in the environmental sense doing his best to be as eco as possible whilst still providing that feeling of luxury and comfort. The day he truly excelled was during a cooking class he arranged for me with a private celebrity chef that  that I will tell you about in detail within the next issue of MR H. This was an experience I will always treasure and I can never in the many years of doing this recall the owner coming to pour my wine and assist the chef. This explains Caio perfectly, he is not a greedy property entrepreneur he is a hospitality man who has found his purpose in life and goes about it by making the guest feel completely at ease with his ego-less, honest  approach to service.

When we caught up, I asked Caio how he balances being a successful property entrepreneur with having a young family? Striking a good balance between work and family life is an essential part of success to both Louise and me. We were both raised in entrepreneurial families and our parent’s generation had the mentality of life being dependant on work, without much balance between the two. For us, we try to make work revolve around our family and as a dad I strongly believe that the responsibility of raising decent human beings outweighs anything else. Children are 100% dependent on their parents and outsourcing this job to an educational institution or the streets is a capital mistake, especially in this day and age where personal values seem to mean very little and the ease of access to information, instead of enlightening, has alienated people. We have thousands of “friends” and “followers” and yet we are alone. The human factor has been taken away from most of our daily lives and I find it extremely distressing that we live in a world where children think that food comes from the supermarket and childhood obesity is one of the biggest issues in developed countries, whilst other children are starving and dying in wars. I enjoy my time getting in and out of work on my motorbike to put my thoughts in check and make sure that we spend quality time together by doing things that our child enjoys and will treasure, from cooking together to feeding the ducks in the park. If you haven’t tried leaving the everyday “stress” behind you every day before you get home, I would strongly recommend it. I guarantee you will be surprised with what you can achieve in your “spare” time.
